Locations within one hours drive from Hamilton, as follows:

Pinnacle (Thames) 

One fantastic overnight available (80 man hut and cooking facilities - a must do), or go for a great day trip with breath taking views/photo opportunities of the East Coast.

Mt Te Aroha 

Day trip with breath taking views/photo opportunities. Reward yourself afterwards with a relaxing soak in the Te Aroha hot pools.

Wairere Falls 

The ability to view a massive waterfall at the bottom and then stand above it at the top(90m) after conquering the trip up. Beautiful views over Matamata, Hamilton and over to the West on a clear day. Hot Pools available on this trip as well (Te Aroha hot pools). 

Maungatautari 

"Munga" gives the great option of longer, more challenging tramps, to shorter and easier tramps. Opportunity to see or hear Kiwi and other native wild life, stand in mud at points along the way, enjoy some great views (depending on the track you choose). 

The silent quiet walk option is to go at dusk and listen out for kiwi and other native species, not a long walk involved here. This is very peaceful and exciting at the same time.

Pirongia 

With so many levels of difficulty and challenges to choose from, Pirongia has a trip for you and your level of capability. Over-nights available, full + half day trips, views and small flat loop tracks to choose from. Also available - a caffeine fix or lunch at the local cafe, or a swim/spa at the neighbouring town (approx 10min drive).

Karioi (Raglan)

Incredible views over the water, some technical spots to climb/clamber, can also make this an over-nighter with learning to surf school available and fish-n-chips on the beach.
